Our Trip To Meghalaya II

On our trip to Meghalaya the next day we visited many places the one that we choose to visit first among them was the Shillong view point, Air force station. The Shillong View Point offers  360-degree view of the capital city. The Lush green and the serene environment makes it popular among the tourists. One can use binoculars on site to catch a spectacular view of the waterfalls gushing out of a mountain. We  needed permission from the Air Force Station to access the peak and this takes time.

We then visited this beautiful Ramkrishna Mission Ashram. It was raining when we visited and the clouds passing made the view look breathe taking. The Ramkrishna Mission Ashram lies in the east khasi hills of Meghalaya. The ashram also has a little shop where you can buy bags, shawls, books, handicrafts etc.

The next spot we choose to visit was the Noakhalikai Falls.

The Nohkalikai Falls is the tallest plunge waterfall in India. The waterfall is located near Cherrapunji which is one of the wettest places on Earth. Nohkalikai Falls are fed by the rainwater that gets collected on the summit of a comparatively small plateau and decrease in power during the dry season in December - February. Below the falls there has formed a plunge pool with green colored water.

The view around the Noakhalikai Falls is extremely beautiful and green. This place attracts many tourists.

One of the best places of our trip was the Mawsmai Caves. Meghalaya has many caves and waterfalls infact the longest cave system of India are situated in the Jaintia Hills of Meghalaya.

Mawsmai cave is the most accessible cave for travelers. One can explore this place without a guide. It is just a small introduction to the world of caves and underground adventure. The caves gave us a thrilling experience.

The sunrays falling upon us in caves made it look so unusual in a good sense.

And the Last place for the day was the Seven Sister Falls. It symbolizes the seven states in northeast namely Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Nagaland, Tripura, Mizoram and Meghalaya. The fall is separated with seven parts over the cliff of the hills.

One must travel during the monsoon time as it is the best time to get the flow of it.  We were the lucky ones to get it.

The view of the falls amidst the clouds passing by gives an amazing view. The place is a must visit when traveling to Meghalaya.
